The Drama Course by DM

Drama ClassThe course started on 31st January 2000 and ran for eight weeks.  It was one night a week in Colaiste Dhulaigh.  The course was called “Act Now” (Acting for beginners).  The fee for the course was £50, but it was worth it.

There were five people in our group but it was nearly all women and only two lads.  The course tutors were two girls and they were really good tutors.

The course covered a lot.  We did role-play, where we were each given the role of an animal to act out.  I had to be an elephant and I hated it at first.  I said I couldn’t do it but the tutor gave me a hand and I got it done. We each acted a separate bit from a play.  I read the piece from Dancing at Lughnasa where Michael is telling the story of how he was born, as his aunts would say, out of wedlock.  The tutors said I would be good at narrating.

I would like to do more acting courses at the Gaiety School of Acting.  I would like to be an actor and go into acting full time someday.
