Welcome to your first session – What is Mindfulness?

Read the text below from the website explaining a little of what being Mindful is all about:

Mindfulness is about becoming more aware of what’s going on in the present moment. It aims to help you manage your thoughts and feelings, so you don’t become overwhelmed by them.​

You can practice mindfulness throughout your day. Mindfulness is a skill that you can work on and improve in. ​

Like any skill the more you work on it, the better you become at it.​​



Take a look at this short 10 minute video explaining a little about taking time to practice mindfulness.


Take a few minutes to think about what you find helps you to relax?

There are no right or wrong answers. Everyone has different ways to relax. For some, it may be knitting, or running, or just sitting still.

If you keep a journal, you can jot down a short list of two or three items that you know help you to relax and unwind.

See the checklist for some ideas. Are there any of these things that you do to relax?

Over the coming week, take some time and space to be mindful and do something you love to help you relax.

You could take two minutes to try your new breathing technique. Put some gentle music on and simply breathe!
