Report for a School Magazine by Bernie

Report for a School Magazine by BernieAn excursion was undertaken by pupils and teachers of St. Francis’s School, Priorswood on the Northside of Dublin.  They went to a well-known beauty spot in Wicklow, The Meeting of the Waters.  Our trip took place so that the children would become more aware of the beauty that surrounds them in Ireland.  To cap it all, the weather was warm and sunny.

Two busloads of pupils and teachers arrived, all alighted with delight armed with food and drinks.  The pupils brought pens and copies to take notes of the events of the day.  Having seen the Meetings of the Waters and strolling around different parts of the surrounding countryside, the pupils took notes about the legend of Tom Moore and then went to the local craft shop.

To surprise the children the teachers took them to Clara Lara, the local adventure playground.  The excitement was delightful, jumping around on slides, ropes and swings.  A boating lake was at hand for anyone to have a go.  The children were jumping from the rope into the water but one young boy misjudged the distance, hit the bank and fell into the water.  The children screamed for the teacher to tell them what had happened.  An ambulance was called and the young oy ended up in hospital with a broken leg.

Unfortunately what had started out as a happy eventful day ended up on a sad note.  Thankfully the boy has made a full recovery.
